Traditionally, yoga was meant to be a health and wellness tool accessible to all people with all kinds of bodies. In modern times, yoga has somehow become an exclusive industry for young, thin, athletic people. Let’s take yoga back to its roots! Join us for our 2024-25 Teacher Training Program and learn to teach yoga that is inclusive and accessible for every body.

Round Rock Yoga’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program is based on the Krishnamacharya tradition of yoga, as learned by Zelinda at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, TN, India.

Krishnamacharya is known as the father of modern yoga, and the Krishnamacharya tradition is the oldest of the modern styles of yoga available to us today. It is unique and special in many ways:

  • True mindfulness is integrated into the practice through the relationship between breath and movement.

  • It is a comprehensive tradition - the physical yoga practice, breathing, and meditation, are rooted in philosophy from the ancient texts.

  • All of the yoga instruction (postures, breathing, etc.) is offered in a way that is comfortable, accessible, and beneficial for every student.

This program is designed for sincere yoga students who are interested in deepening their understanding of yoga and who may or may not be interested in teaching. Yoga Teacher Training inevitably brings about deep personal reflection and growth - your purpose and goals may change throughout the program, and that is ok. You will learn:

  • How to deepen your personal practice

  • Anatomy & Physiology

  • Classical āsana sequences in the Krishnamacharya tradition

  • Āsana simplifications, intensifications, and contraindications

  • Classical prāṇāyāma (breathing) techniques

  • How to observe students

  • How to design a yoga practice

  • Yoga history and philosophy

  • Introduction to Ayurveda

  • Introduction to prenatal and postnatal yoga

  • Best practices for teaching yoga in person and online

  • Business and ethics for yoga teachers

  • And much more

The Krishnamacharya tradition emphasizes the importance of the relationship between the student and the teacher. As such, we maintain a small student teacher ratio so that we can provide personalized support for each student. If you are ready to deepen your study of yoga, we encourage you to apply early to secure your spot.

We are a Registered Yoga School (RYS-200) with Yoga Alliance.
